Spring on the desert can bring many surprises...


Spring on the desert can bring many surprises like the Golden Poppies near Picacho Peak State Park. There is a variety of wild flowers that cover areas, that you might never expect a seed to sprout, let alone bloom. The Sonoran Desert of Arizona will soon see temperatures in the 100’s, and the grassy spaces may become a fire hazard in late summer.


Most of the world sees a cactus that is prickly and past its prime and looking a little frail. It depends on your focus….Are you looking at the wilting Saguaro or… Do you see the purple Lupine and yellow Brittle bush, and desert Marigolds, the Orange Globe Mallow flowers?… Do you see the bright sunny sky with the wispy clouds?
